Adult Training Plan

The Adult Training Plan is a comprehensive 4-week course consisting of four one-on-one lessons, open to all dogs aged over one year. This course is designed to cover the fundamental skills of obedience in a structured manner that is intuitive for your dog, building on each week's success. Your dog will learn to look to you for guidance, ensuring they feel comfortable and safe while you remain happy and relaxed. It's a win-win situation!

Our curriculum includes classical and operant conditioning, as well as essential commands such as silent sit, lead skills, stay, leave it, recall games, and more. We also address common issues such as separation anxiety, reactivity, high prey drive and other behavioural challenges. If your adult dog already possesses these skills, we can further refine and enhance them, making their abilities reliable and applicable in everyday life and various situations.

Each lesson will build on theoretical knowledge, helping you understand not only what to do but why, enabling you to problem-solve behaviours and introduce new ones as your dog develops to suit your lifestyle and circumstances. This personalised approach ensures the course is tailored to your specific needs rather than a generic catch-all.

🐾Frequently asked questions🐾

  • All of our lessons are held at our secure training paddock only 3 miles outside of Elgin.

We have ample parking and toilets on site.

Full address can be provided upon enquiry.

  • Although the issue may be happening in the home I prefer to help people outside of where the behaviour is being practiced.

Simply having a new person in your home changes the environment enough to alter the behaviour and depends on being lucky enough that people are passing the window during the visit.

Full online and phone support is included in your lessons.

  • You only need to bring what you usually take on a walk (including high-value treats e.g. cooked chicken, liver treats, etc) and I will supply the rest.

As we are positive only, we do not recommend the use of slip leads in class, so please make sure your dog has a neck collar/harness and a lead.

Please do remember to dress appropriately as the Scottish weather can be erratic and it is an open space.

  • For 1-1 lessons you are welcome to bring multiple dogs from the same household although we do recommend bringing just one and applying the same techniques at home to all.

Some clients prefer to have the first three lessons with the dog they find most challenging and bringing the rest along for the final lesson.

  • Each lesson is scheduled for an hour with 45-50 minutes making up the lesson with the remaining time for Q&A.

  • All the members of your household are welcome to participate in both 1-1 and group lessons!

Children are to supervised at all times (or to remain on a lead for the duration of the lesson!)
